Imported meat.

About imported meat.

Nowadays we can see the display of country of origin easily at restaurant. A few months ago, we couldn't see display of imported meat at restaurant. Because restaurant owners didn't want to show consumer mark of imported meat. Also, consumer thought about imported meat. But now the situation has changed. consumers' perceptions have changed about imported meat from negative perceptions to positive perceptions. Good quality to be able to enjoy the meat is really good news at a reasonable price. It is really a good thing? I wondered what concerns.

First, the sanitary conditions of imported meat. As mentioned in the presentation, a lot of imported meat could contain germs. However, imported meat came to us
without any interference.
Second, It is the collapse of the domestic meat market. Imported Meat has been targeting the consumer as half the price of domestic meat.If domestic meat will be collapse by imported meat? The price of imported meat will rise step by step. Eventually The price difference between price of imported meat and domestic meat will disappear. We must protect the domestic beef market.

In preparation for this presentation, I thought that we may eat only imported meat in the future.
I think consumer as well as government must have an interest about domestic meat.

  1. I know that we have to protect our domestic beef and pork. And also because of the import meat, it would be possible that domestic meat will disappear. But, as you said, the price diferrence between Korean meat and imported meat is really big. So, we have to import the imported meat. But, the government should control imports. In other words, government set the limits on maximum and minimum amount of imported meat.

  2. YEAH! That's why I'm scared by the made-in-china-products. They're just pouring into the country with cheap products, and when all the domestic products are dead their price is going to be higher and higher like you said. However, Morgan said there are better farm environment in other countries that have more place to keep domestic animals, and that the poor farm condition of Korea (density is too high)makes the animals prone to disease.

  3. As you said, i think we need some action to protect domestic fork. If we don't take a action, we can't see the domestic fork, domestic beef!! next we lost our beef, fork market. So we have to take an action!!
